American Horror Story: Freak Show is really putting the emphasis on freak this season. In the premiere episode AHS fans met a bunch of carnies, Twisty the Killer Clown and “Lobster hands” have a brand new meaning.
As a hardcore AHS fan I was beyond excited for the premiere and was very pleased with the extended episode. There weren’t any huge OMG moments for me but I’m already falling in love with the characters. And can you believe I already had a nightmare from watching the show.
The main things to take away from the first episode are: – SPOILER ALERT – Bette and Dot Tattler (Sarah Paulson) are found on a farm after killing their mother and are recruited to Elsa Mars’ (Jessica Lange) freak show to bring in big crowds and big bucks. Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters) does sexual favors for women with his lobster hands at Tupperware parties to earn extra cash. Twisty the Killer Clown (John Carroll Lynch) is really, really creepy and is killing random people and taking some captive. The episode ends revealing Elsa Mars is a “freak” just like the others and has no legs beyond her knees. She really wants to be a star.
Next week’s episode brings out Desiree Dupree and Wendell ‘Dell’ Toledo, Angela Bassett and Michael Chiklis characters, another 90 minute episode, and more of what that freaky clown is up to.
Entertainment Weekly has a really cool and intriguing interview with season’s co-creator Ryan Murphy where he explains the more sexual natural of this season, Twisty the Killer Clown, character story lines, and so much more. Read it HERE.
I don’t think I’ll be doing a weekly review unless something really good happens or something that sends social media into a frenzy so be sure to follow the conversation on any of GGB’s social media accounts.
