This year has been an amazing and monumental one for Keke Palmer. Not only was she the youngest person to ever land her own talk show at 20-years-old but now she will be adding another ground breaking title to her extensive resume.
The Just Keke host has been cast as the first African-American Cinderella to appear on Broadway. Palmer will play the iconic princess in “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” beginning on September 9 at the Broadway Theatre in New York City.
Keke Palmer told the AP, “It’s honestly one of those things that I can’t believe is really happening. I’m very excited. Very excited and nervous as well — a bunch of feelings all at once.” This will be Palmer’s first time on Broadway.
On Instagram, Palmer shared the her gratitude on landing the role by uploading a screen shot of her Twitter feed of some outlets sharing her big news. [SEE BELOW] She captioned the photo, “UNDERSTAND ME WHEN I SAY THIS: You can do anything you want to do! Your life is your life & your belief in YOU will make it all it can be! Don’t stop at anything, spread LOVE & allow God to guide you, bless you all! Let your light shine my angels!”
Laura Osnes, Carly Rae Jepsen and Paige Faure, are previous women to play the role of Cinderella on Broadway.
CONGRATS Keke Palmer! You give me hope for our generation. Good luck during rehearsals and break a leg.
