Robert Pattinson covers The Hollywood Reporter and talks landing the role as iconic character Edward Cullen, his acting career post “Twilight,” his ex Kristen Stewart and more in the June 2014 issue of the mag.

Since “The Twilight Saga” was a huge part of skyrocketing Pattinson’s career, he talked heavily about what he remembers from that experience with the THR.

Pattinson recalled meeting and speaking with “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke during the casting process. He said, remembering, they had “this ridiculous conversation, and I hadn’t read the books or the script or anything and I just bullsh*tted on the phone.”

Of course Pattinson landed the role of Edward Cullen at age 21 but many worried he was too old to play a forever young, 17-year-old vampire, but he won over producers and fans of the book.

Robert Pattinson had no idea what a career altering road he was on. “It was quite a constricting character, in a way,” he said. “You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it’s like, ‘How the f*ck do you do this?’ I think that was one of the hardest jobs I’ve ever done.”

Pattinson talked briefly and I mean very briefly about his “Twilight” co-star and ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart in the mag. The two had a messy, public break up when an affair with Stewart and her “Snow White and The Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders was revealed but do Pattinson and Stewart stay in touch? He nonchalantly responded with a “yeah” when asked. *excited squeal*

Pattinson who calls himself “a relatively solitary person” still lives L.A. and is finding his niche in his career saying, “I don’t know if I’ve really particularly found my feet as an actor yet — I have to prove certain things.”

Robert Pattinson will appear in “The Rover” opposite Guy Pearce. That film hits theaters next month. He also works with David Cronenberg again in “Maps to the Stars,” which is slated to premiere in the fall.
