Renowned author and poet Maya Angelou has died.
Angelou’s literary agent, Helen Brann, confirmed the tragic news on Wednesday, May 28. She passed in her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
No official cause of her death has been reported as of yet. Maya Angelou was 86.
The I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings author had a stellar career that spread wide across many fields. Angelou was a professor, a singer and dancer, an actress, a poet, an activist and a leader.
Maya Angelou had a career that no one could possibly mirror. Her time spent working with Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil right movement and her honorary 30 plus degrees makes Angelou truly one of America’s greatest treasures. She will be missed.
