Nick Cannon is causing quite the controversy with his latest stunt promoting his April 1 album White People Party Music.

On Instagram, Cannon uploaded a photo of himself with heavy makeup making him appear to be white changing the media mogul into his white alter ego Connor Smallnut.

The caption for the photo read, “It’s official… I’m White!!! #WHITEPEOPLEPARTYMUSIC #Wppm in stores April 1st!!!!!! Dude Go Get It!!! Join The Party!!!! #GoodCredit #DogKissing #BeerPong #FarmersMarkets #FistPumping  #CreamCheeseEating #RacialDraft “Bro I got drafted!!”

Naturally, Cannon received backlash on social media for his appearance from many including Vanity Fair who tweeted his look made the world “cringe.” Cannon shot back urging people to “just relax and have fun!!” explaining what he was doing was for “humor” not “hatred.”

Well I’m not sure how I feel about this situation. Issue of race and stereotypes are always a touchy subject. I mean people lost their sh*t when Julianne Hough dressed as Uzo Aduba‘s character Crazy Eyes from Orange Is The New Black for Halloween and wore “black face.” I feel like these things aren’t done as a hatred or has malicious intent so people shouldn’t take it so seriously in both cases.

But you tell me, although it’s for entertainment, is Nick Cannon in white face a double standard?
