On Sunday, March 16, we returned to the mysterious island of Lost at Paley Fest in Los Angeles for the 10th anniversary panel and first ever reunion of Lost.

Lost cast members Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Malcolm David Kelley (Walt), Maggie Grace (Shannon), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse; joined together with panel moderator Paul Scheer to discuss the cult classic series and possibly answer some questions fans had about the series that premiered in 2004.

Now I feel this panel fell a little short. I caught on to the series a little late but I binge watched it on Netflik and became obsessed. So I was expecting to understand a few things about the series after watching this panel such as: [SPOILERS] what was the deal with the island in general, were they dead the entire time, what was happening with the time traveling season and the flash forwards. A few things were revealed though.

  • The Lost cast was not dead the entire time. Flight Oceanic 815 had survivors and they were actually experiencing all those things on the island.
  • The ending of Lost explored the “journey and destiny” of the characters and dared to answer the question, “What is the meaning life? And what happens when you die?”
  • Daniel Dae Kim wasn’t always speaking Korean in the series.
  • Nikki and Paulo simply served as fillers to give appreciate for all those background survivors that nobody really cared about.
  • Jorge Garcia, Hurley, originally read for the part of Sawyer and Yunjin Kim, Sun, originally read for the part of Kate. Their characters were written for them after impressing the big heads in the audition.
  • Ian Somerhalder, Boone, was the first person cast in the series and the first main character killed off. [R.I.P Boone, I’ll always love you.]
  • There are Easter eggs hidden throughout the series like the Dharma initiative logo behind Walt in the wreckage on the pilot episode before it was even a thing.
