In an effort to motivate and uplift women and young girls everywhere, Beyoncé, Condoleezza Rice, Jane Lynch, Jennifer Garner and more teamed up with Lifetime and BBDO New York to ban the word “bossy” in a “Ban Bossy” campaign.

In a new PSA for the campaign, powerful women are urging others to stop the use of the word bossy seeing it as a negative term that puts down females and make them think that taking leadership positions and being bossy is something to be ashamed of; hence ban bossy. But some are seeing the campaign as something negative.

There are blogs on the internet that are confused on why the word bossy needs to get banned and feel there isn’t a strong enough message behind such a campaign. I kind of agree. I don’t think the word bossy needs to be banned. I mean do kids even still use that? Maybe a different word or name for the campaign could be used like “embrace leadership” or “fearless females” something like that, you know.
