Julianne Hough Dresses As Black Character From ‘OITNB’ And Causes Controversy

Halloween give us the opportunity to be anybody and anything we want without it being a big deal but that wasn’t the case for former Dancing With The Stars dancer Julianne Hough.

The “Safe Haven” actress went with a group theme and wore “blackface” during Casamigos Tequila Halloween party in Hollywood on Friday night. Hough dressed as Crazy Eyes, a black character played by Uzo Aduba on Netflix’s hit series Orange is the New Black. Hough’s friends dressed as other notable characters from the show.

Although Hough and her gal pals may have nailed the costumes she received much negative feedback calling her a racist and inappropriate for wearing the costume. Julianne Hough later made a public apology via Twitter posting,

“I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.”
