Originally from New York City, Melanie White moved to Philadelphia and brought a successful business with her. Melaniemarie.com is an emerging accessories line that has been seen on the likes of Angela Simmons and Adrienne Bailon. Her “MM” T-shirt and tank line has also been a huge contribution to her brand but jewelry will remain where this girl passion lies.

“I’m a big fan of accessories, I love them. If you go in my house I have like bins and bins and bins of accessories. I’ve always loved them. I use to make them as hobbies like my grandma was into fashion when she was younger so she has a lot of costume jewelry and a lot of it’s broken or it’s a lot of pieces, so I would always put things together to kind of make things different or just add to it, just more embellishment and stuff like that and everyone would always say “where’d you get that from”…and I would say I made it.” Realizing she could turn her hobby into a business, Melanie did just that.

If you follow Melanie on Instagram (@melrwhite) you may have seen rapper Common repping the “MM” brand but there is another huge celeb that you may not know is TeamMM. “I would say, I’ve had a lot of like celebrities wear my things but recently I sent one of my bags to Beyoncé’s stylist [Ty Hunter], cause I’m friends with him when I was in New York and he sent me a text back saying, “she has the bag and she loves it,” and he’s just waiting to get a picture to send back to me so I would say that’s my personal career highlight because no one else know about it.” We do now!

Melanie White is one of Philly’s Phinest because she turned her love for accessories into a profitable business and continued on her road to success despite all her obstacles.
