Hello Glamberous Ones and Welcome to GGBTV Presents: Philly’s Phinest!
We’re almost done! Only two more weeks of Philly’s Phinest to go. All month-long I will be bringing you exclusive sit downs with some of Philadelphia’s greatest talents in media, fashion, music and more! And at the end of the month I will be sharing my journey with Glambergirlblog.com
Nafeesa Bilal from Cravegirl fashion brand is an outspoken, passionate woman who embodies what it means to create your own lane. Nafessa was sick of the fashion industry so decided to change it.
“Cravegirl was kind of like something I started because I was frustrated with the fashion industry for plus size women. Um back in like maybe 2002 I started going to vintage like thrift stores and stuff and collecting T-shirts and reconstructing them and kind of just patterned my outfits, just dressing crazy, kind of like a rebellion against the fashion industry because I never had anything to wear when I went out,” she said. From there Cravegirl was emerged.
Outside of her brand Cravegirl, Nafessa also started a campaign to promote self-esteem and healthy living with Rich Thick Girls. “Rich Thick Girls campaign is kind of like my empowerment movement behind the Cravegirl brand. It’s something that I came up with just to empower women, not only full-figured women but all women. It’s kind of like the Black Girls Rock of the full-figured world,” she said.
Nafessa continued to talk about Rich Thick Girls, what’s next for her brands and where you can find her on social media.
Nafeesa Bilal is one of Philly’s Phinest because she saw what she didn’t like in her geared industry and worked hard to change it and she empowers woman of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds.
