Hello Glamberous Ones and Welcome to GGBTV Presents: Philly’s Phinest!
All month long I will be bringing you exclusive sit downs with some of Philadelphia’s greatest talents in media, fashion, music and more! And at the end of the month I will be sharing my journey with Glambergirlblog.com
So without further adieu allow me to introduce Blair Sandlain, co-owner of PnkElephant Boutique, located at 504 South Street in Philadelphia.
Originally from Detriot, Blair Sandlain moved to the TriState area without the intentions of creating a brand that is now known nationally. Blair’s love for accessories and clothing and the help of a friend helped kicked off PnkElephant.
I asked Blair about the unique name and spelling of her company and she said, “PnkElephant, the name actually came from myself. My grandmother was very much into elephants and she always would say they brought you good luck and you know I wanted to bring obviously good luck into my own company, my own brand, so I just stuck with the elephant part of it. And to make it girly we did the pink and I took the “i” out just to incorporate there’s no “i” in team.”
And a great team she indeed has. Michael Vick’s wife, Kijafa Vick, is the peanut butter to Blair’s jelly in business; thanks to social media, the girls were able to link up.
“The world that we live in is like very cyber so we kinda met through Facebook,” Sandlain said. “My roommate actually sold clothes and he’s very, very good and she found him on Facebook so she use to come up to Jersey, we lived in Jersey City, to get her clothes made by him and he use to always show her these accessories and at the time I was working. She was like “what do she do, does she need a partner for this,” and he was like well actually she is looking for a partner cause I was looking for a partner at the time.” The ladies met, clicked and the rest is history.
Speaking of history, I bet you didn’t know Blair is the woman behind the huge “Girls Hustle Harder” campaign empowering woman all over that are working hard towards their dreams and goals. I asked Blair how the idea started and she said, “It started off as a joke, all my friends would say, “you such a hustler,” I’m from Detroit originally so you know Detroit player, you a hustler so I was sitting down one day and I was like I should put this on a T-Shirt.” After calling a graphic designer friend with her vision in mind “Philly Girls Hustle Harder” was born. The shirts have since went viral repping all cities, colleges and even supporting breast cancer.
Blair Sandlain is one of Philly’s Phinest because of her immaculate work ethic, down to earth demeanor and her ability to break out of the 9-5 norm.
