Hello Glamberous Ones!
We’ve seen the promos, we’ve seen the trailer and now you can see the movie! “Grown Ups 2” will be in theaters this weekend and I’ve got the review for you if you decide to go this weekend.
Thanks to a random moment I was able to see “Grown Up 2” yesterday in New York at an advance screening right before the actual red carpet event. I didn’t see the first film but I was fully aware what the premise was about and honestly found the second film hilarious.
All the main character, Lenny Feder (Adam Sandler), Eric Lamonsoff (Kevin James), Kurt McKenzie (Chris Rock) and Marcus Higgins (David Spade), their wives (Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello) and kids reprised their roles in the sequel along old favorites like Wiley (Steve Buscemi) and Malcolm (Tim Meadows) and newbies like Taylor Lautner, Shaquille O’Neal and Nick Swardson. There were things I liked and didn’t like so much about the film and I’ll tell you why.
I thought the film was funny but it seemed like isolated events just clipped together with no real in sync story line. I feel like it was just too many different things happening that it seemed so random and didn’t really go together to me for instance; Sandler’s character Lenny ends of driving the neighborhood kids to school on a school bus because the driver is hammered and then he picks up all his friends one by one and go to K-mart. It just seemed bizarre but maybe that’s how it was in the first one.
Also all the pee and fart jokes was just not appealing to me; clearly a guy wrote the film and would think that was funny. It just didn’t work for me. But I will tell you what worked for me; Taylor Lautner and I’m not being bias because I love him. To be honest I don’t think Tay is that great of an actor based on his past films but his comedic role in this was perfect! I’m not sure if I was giddy laughing at a hot guy joking around or if he actually has comedic chops but he was really good as Frat guy Andy! The scene with Mario Bello and Kevin James in the car wash and the big climax at the end, I won’t give that away, was hilarious!
Overall, “Grown Up 2” is pretty funny, some adult humor and something the younger kids can enjoy. It has little antidotes in it about the importance of family, standing up for yourself and other gems that are vital for life. I give “Grown Up 2” Three and a Half Glamberous Sparkles!
