Oi there Glamberous ones! It is time for the British Invasion post for this week! I know I’ve been focusing a lot on music lately, but it’s just too good to pass up. This time it’s Marina and the Diamonds, hailing from Wales (I know it’s not Britain but it’s still the UK!)  Bubblegum pop and pastel hair? Count me in!

Though it sounds like a full group ensemble, Marina and the Diamonds is a solo project from the mind of singer, Marina Diamandis. Complete with heart imprint below her eye and quirky yet girly clothing, she fits for teens and young adults who don’t want to grow up. Her lyrics can be dark, talking about self-esteem and confidence issues (like “Teen Idle”) to fun and upbeat, touching on how to be the best person you can be (check “Oh, No!”).

She’s not afraid to speak her mind that’s for sure. She’s open about her past struggles and how she feels when the music industry misconstrue her musical style. Plus, she doesn’t get freaked out when you ask her weird interview questions. Marina rules, enough said! Check out “Primadonna” from her most recent album, “Electra Heart” below!
