Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth Arrested in Georgia

No, I’m not pulling your leg with that title. It’s the truth. America’s sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested early Friday morning in Georgia, where she’s filming new movie “Devil’s Knot,” and were booked for alleged disorderly conduct and DUI charges. The couple was pulled over after Toth had been weaving and crossing over the double line into the next lane.

Toth, 41, was arrested on DUI charges, while Reese was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to obey instructions from an officer. When they told Toth to get out of the car, Reese was “hanging out the window” and claiming the officer was a fraud. Trooper First Class J. Pyland stated that Ms. Witherspoon asked him, “Do you know my name?” and chastised, “You’re about to find out who I am” (I shouldn’t be laughing at this but I am LOLing). The pair was put in jail and released on bond hours later.

Reese, 37, released a statement regarding the incident and emphasizes that she is “embarrassed” for the way she acted. She claims she was scared for her husband and did have more to drink than intended, which is why she acted out. She also expresses her apology for the officer and understands he was “just doing his job.” A court date for today, April 22, has been set, though may have to be rescheduled due to the couple’s work commitments.

Well dang. Never in a million years did I expect Elle Woods to be behind bars. My heart goes out to her during this difficult situation, but I still can’t help but laugh at her comments towards the officer. “Do you know who I am?” Really girl?! That was your first mistake! But, I have to say, Reese is usually pretty good at poking fun at herself so let’s pray for an episode of SNL with her as the host very soon!
