Cancer Survivor Accompanies Taylor Swift to Academy of Country Music Awards Show

The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer kept her promise to cancer survivor Kevin McGuire, and went out on a date with him to the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards held in Las Vegas on Sunday night, April 7.

In February 2012, The NJ teen, who was suffering from leukemia  asked the country singer to accompany him to his prom on Facebook. Taylor could not attend the prom but asked him to be her date to the 2012 ACM Awards.

McGuire unfortunately could not attend the award show because he became sick due to his chemo. Taylor gave him a shout-out when she accepted her award for Entertainer of the Year award, and invited him again next year.

The date finally came into fruition when the 19-year-old accompanied Taylor to the this year’s ACM Awards.

“I think Taylor is one of those people who you don’t really see that often. Classy, sweet and kind,” said McGuire.

It’s so refreshing to see stars giving back to their fans. You go Taylor!
