It’s a sad day in Hollywood. Legendary Film Critic Roger Ebert lost his battle with cancer and was pronounced dead on Thursday, April 4, just days after he announced the disease had returned to his body.

Roger Ebert has been a staple in the film community for decades reaching fame with his late and former co-host Gene Siskel from their iconic review show Siskel and Ebert

Coining the phrase, “two thumbs up” or “two thumbs down” in regards to films, Ebert’s career in film landed him a Pulitzer Prize in criticism and secured clout in the industry for being the go to guy to get top-notch reviews on upcoming and present films in Hollywood.

Back in 2002, Roger was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He under went many surgeries to try to rid his body of the disease and it did go away for a while but resulted in the loss of his lower jaw. The Chicago Suntimes sadly revealed the news of Ebert’s death on Twitter posting, “There is a hole that can’t be filled. One of the greats has left us. Roger Ebert has passed away at the age of 70.http://suntm.es/Z4EIOF.”

Roger Ebert will be missed in film industry and in Hollywood. R.I.P to legendary film critic Roger Ebert.
