All those Jimmy Fallon versus Jay Leno for The Tonight Show host rumors can be laid to rest! Mr. Fallon is officially taking over that top spot as king of late night!
NBC announced that after four decades of The Tonight Show airing in Los Angeles, the show will find its way back to its orginal home in New York and with a new host with funnyman Jimmy Fallon! The switch is set to happen in 2014, so we have a long way to go to give Jay Leno a proper farewell to his Tonight Show hosting duties.
But was Jay Leno bitter about his pal taking his slot as host? Of course not, Jay released a statement saying, “Congratulations Jimmy. I hope you’re as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you’re the old guy. If you need me, I’ll be at the garage.” The boys even addressed the situation in a hilarious video singing a rendition of a “West Side Story” song before the news was announced. (See below)
Now the question is who will replace Jimmy Fallon on Late Night? Many are hoping for Jimmy’s Saturday Night Live buddy Seth Meyers, but what about you? Let me know your take on the late night switch in the comments.
