OK, I’m all for reinvention and stuff but Beyoncé this is a you I’m not sure I’m going to like.
The Mrs. Carter Show world tour is set to kick off next month, April 15, so it’s about time Beyoncé decided to release some new music but her choice of a new hit, really two, has some scratching their heads, especially me.
We all know Beyhive fans refer to the “Countdown” singer as “Queen Bey” or “King Bey” so I guess she decided to run with that concept. On March 17, Bey posted this photo (on the left) to her Instagram page instructing followers to go to iam.beyonce.com. On the site Bey released her new single “Bow Down/I Been On.”
I can get down with “I Been On,” I like the beat and Bey’s opera vocals in the background but it left me wondering is that chopped and screwed rap her or someone else? And is this that the complete song or just a sample? Now “Bow Down?” I’m not too sure how I feel about this. The lyrics that has me scratching my head is, “I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world/Don’t forget it, don’t forget it/Respect that, bow down, b*itches.” I’m sorry and just who is Beyoncé referring to?
Take a listen to “Bow Down/I Been On” below and let me know what you think!
