Beyoncé has the preconceived notion that girls run the world, which is kind of true, but I think in this case she’s the one particular girl that runs this world!

You can hate her or love her but the facts remain the same: Bey continues to sell out world tours, make chart-topping records and remains on the tip of everyone’s tongues; this weekend especially. Saturday, February 16, was officially B-Day for real. The debut of her anticipated HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream aired with mix reviews from the public BUT not before her Oprah Winfrey Next Chapter interview aired that same night, right before her doc.

In both settings fans were told they would get an up close and new look into the life of the “Countdown” singer. Between both mediums Bey talked about her decision to drop her father Matthew Knolwes as her manager and how empty it made her feel for a while. She talked a lot about her husband Jay-Z and how building a foundation in friendship with him first was one part of why their union is so successful. Viewers got to see just how much the married couple of five years truly felt for each other in candid home videos that were incorporated in the documentary. The major topic of course was Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

Rumors spread like wildfire that singer was never pregnant with her daughter which Bey revealed was the must hurtful and absurd thing she ever heard. So in the doc and interview she revealed the pain she felt about her miscarriage and then the excitement/nervousness she felt about getting pregnant again. Bey talked about hiding her pregnancy from the world and revealing her news and baby bump at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. She even included footage of a sonogram, her huge stomach and baby Blue Ivy in living color in her documentary.

OK, I have a few things to say about this little movie. Keep in mind this is my blog and I’ll say what I want to but I will tread lightly because I know Bey Hive fans are more crazy than Justin Bieber and “Twilight” fans put together…on crack! I really appreciate and respect the artist that Beyoncé is. She works hard, she likes things perfect and still manages to keep her home together but what I found bothering about this doc is that it kept promoting that we’d see a new side of Beyoncé and we didn’t. All the things that were “revealed” is stuff the public already knew; I feel like I’ve seen it all before.

I will say Bey did have a point about the fascination of celebrity life; the fan and media become so obsessed with the personal aspect of a “celebrity,” a lot of which is nobodies business because that stuff is personal and invasive, that they forget about the music, about the talent of the individual and focus more on what they wore last week and who they’re dating. But if people didn’t care about that then I wouldn’t have a job.

Well, I stated my opinion so please let me know yours!
