February is the special month in which we honor and celebrate African-Americans, past and present, for all their accomplishments in a variety of fields: music, television, film, fashion, business and so much more. Here at Glambergirlblog we want to do things a little bit different. Everyday throughout this month we will spotlight some of the glamberous African-Americans in the entertainment industry.
What’s handsome, talented and funny? A person who defies being a mere human – Jamie Foxx! The singer, actor, producer and comedian is a well-rounded individual who has successfully dominated pretty much every element of entertainment in a major way.
Jamie grew up in New Jersey and was introduced to the comedy world in college. After making the decision to leave college, Jamie landed a full-time gig as an In Living Color cast member in 1991. After five years Jamie left the sketch comedy show to headline his own comedy series. The Jamie Foxx Show starred Foxx as a struggling actor trying to make it in LA.
Soon Jamie moved from the small screen to the big! In 2001, the string of Foxx’s big screen movies began to happen due to his role in the film “Any Given Sunday” (1999). He then was featured in such films like “Collateral” and “Ali.” The actor struck gold, literally, when he won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for his lead role in the biopic film “Ray.” From comedic roles (“Valentine’s Day) to the dramatic (“Django Unchained”); Jamie Foxx proved he can go head to head with the heavyweights of Hollywood.
Besides acting Jamie has had a very successful music career. He released three studio albums Peep This (1994), Unpredictable (2006) and Intuition (2008). His music talents brought him many accolades such as his single “Blame It,” reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. I’m still waiting for another album Jamie!
Fun Fact About Jamie Foxx: Jamie majored in music while studying at the U.S. International University in San Diego.
