February is the special month in which we honor and celebrate African-Americans, past and present, for all their accomplishments in a variety of fields: music, television, film, fashion, business and so much more. Here at Glambergirlblog we want to do things a little bit different. Everyday throughout this month we will spotlight some of the glamberous African-Americans in the entertainment industry.
My heart and passion lies in entertainment news. I adore all the positive pioneers in the industry who constantly remain professional and serve as inspiration. I was lucky enough to meet and have a great sit down with VH1’s Janell Snowden when I interned there last spring. When I tell you she’s one of the sweetest, hardworking and genuine women in news I truly mean that!
Janell Snowden was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Snowden originally had a passion for investigative journalism and political news since she was in the heart of the nation’s capital. Due to a keen eye for picking out news and a persistent drive to create a name for herself; Snowden was able to successfully pitch a full packaged news report, that she did completely on her own, to BET Nightly News. BET wasn’t the only one to pay attention to the full package that is Janell Snowden. She worked with CNN, HLN, MTV and Sirius/XM radio as a news expert.
Currently you can see Janell as a correspondent for VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live weekdays at 10 am on VH1 and watch her many celebrity news reports on VH1.com. Janell is a journalist that aspiring ones can look up to with pride as a true example that dedication and passion will get you far!
Fun Fact About Janell Snowden: Janell wrote, produced and anchored an investigate report on the unsolved murder of DJ Jam Master Jay that landed her a nomination for the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award.
