Today is February 1 and I still can’t believe how fast January went by! With each new month brings new goals, challenges, expectations and hopefully some fun stuff.
This month in particular we honor and celebrate African-Americans, past and present, for all their accomplishments in a variety of fields: music, television, film, fashion, business and so much more. Here at Glambergirlblog we want to do things a little bit different. Everyday throughout this month we will spotlight some of the glamberous African-Americans in the entertainment industry. First up Miss Beyoncé Knowles.
Beyoncé is one of the few artists that has successfully left a popular music group and went on to surpass the expectations of doubters. Born on September 4, 1981 in Houston, Texas, the amazing mother, wife and mogul that Bey is can only be compared to the exquisite talent she possesses and the confidence to back up her huge “ego.” With over 13 million albums sold in the United States alone, Bey definitely has built a legendary career for herself with no signs of slowing down. She’s currently working on her fifth studio album and fans are anxiously waiting for the first single. I think 2013 will be Bey’s best year yet!
Fun Fact about Beyoncé: In January 2012, it was announced that Scaptia beyonceae, a species of horse fly found in Northern Queensland, Australia, was named after the singer because of its golden color.
You can catch Beyoncé THIS Sunday, February 3, for her Superbowl XLVII halftime show performance and be sure to check out her HBO documentary Life is But a Dream airing on Saturday, February 16. Until then “Countdown to Touchdown” with Bey below.
