Work In Progress: Boy Meets World Sequel?

From 1993 to 2000 Disney brought the lovable character Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) into our homes with “Boy Meets World.” The classic television series, forever apart of pop culture history, revolved around the life of Matthews growing up in Philadelphia and how he dealt with adolescent issues into adulthood as he met the world.

Now Disney wants to take that story a step further. It’s being reported that a sequel series with the working title “Girl Meets World” is in heavy talks to becoming a pilot. The sequel series will follow the life of Cory Matthew’s daughter with his beloved high school sweetheart turned wife Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel).

Michael Jacobs, the show’s original executive producer, is said to be in the early stages of casting for the spin-off. The show is even hoping Savage and Fishel will reprise their infamous roles as one of the 90’s favorite fictional couples.

Can I be honest with you all real quick? I’m not sure how I feel about a “Boy Meets World” spin-off. Don’t get me wrong I loved, loved, LOVED that show! I seen every episode, many times, and I was genuinely sad when it went off the air but I feel certain things need to stay as is. I don’t want a horribly written new show to destroy the perfect memory I have in my mind from the original.
