Trailer Thursday: Mama

Halloween is a mere week away so I don’t have much time to get you all frightened before the scariest night of the year. In this edition of Trailer Thursday allow me to introduce a new way you may relate to the lady that gave birth to you with “Mama.”

In “Mama” Annabel (Jessica Chastain) and Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) are the only relatives that can care for Lucas’ young nieces Victoria and Lily (Megan Charpentier, Isabelle Nélisse) who have been discovered abandoned in the forest for 5 years.

It’s a mystery how the very young girls have survived for so long alone but the courts and doctors are convinced that in a loving situation the girls will be able to fully ease into a normal life but just when the girls begin to adjust things get creepy.

Apparently there is someone named “Mama” that poses a threat to anyone that gets close to Victoria and Lily. The girls are clearly terrified but no one, including the audience, knows exactly why. As corny and cliché as the trailer appears I’m interested to know who the hell “Mama” is and what she capable of.

Does this film tickle your fancy? “Mama” is in theaters on January 18, 2013.
