As if I needed another reason to despise smiles that don’t move [CC: Clowns]. Thanks to Youtube this creepy ass trailer for “Smiley” was introduced into my life. Keeping up with the theme of horror films for the duration of the month; allow me to add another reason why you may have a hard time sleeping at night thanks to “Smiley,” this week’s Trailer Thursday movie.

Directed by Michael Gallagher, “Smiley” takes a different spin on your typical psychological slasher film. Ashley (Caitlin Gerard), the lead character in the film, must decide if she’s going nuts or if she is slowly becoming the latest Smiley victim after she discovers the demented serial killer from an urban legend can be summoned through the Internet. Given the amount of time we all spend on the net imagine if a serial killer COULD actually be brought to life through the web. *insert bugged eyes*

In the trailer we see what is believed to be a detective questioning Ashley about Smiley and a lot of yelling. There isn’t much gore in the trailer though, I guess that’s what the film is for but we do get to see much of that terrifying smile face mask; I find it simply horrifying. The trailer also depicts Ashley to be mentally unstable and not many people are believing her when she says Smiley attacked her, I smell a twist ending.

I refuse to scare myself with this film so maybe you will. “Smiley” is already in AMC theaters so check your local listings.
