Monday, July 30, 2012 the stars of the upcoming film from “The Bourne” saga gathered at the Ziegfeld theater in New York City to celebrate the pending release of the film.

Jeremy Renner, star of the film “The Bourne Legacy” , plays Aaron Cross, an agent fighting for his life in the new film. He has mighty big shoes to fill for taking on this lead role of “The Bourne” series which was previously led by Matt Damon for three films: “The Bourne Identity” (2002), “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004) and “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007). Let’s do a quick recap of how the 2012 film connects to the previous three.

The first three films follow Matt Damon’s character Jason Bourne who is struggling with extreme memory loss in the first film. He later discovers he’s a trained CIA assassin with a target on his head from a failed assignment. Bourne then breaks all ties with the CIA, which is a big no-no, and embarks on a journey to clear his name from a framed murder and try to stay alive in the process. The 2012 film, really separates from the original by introducing a new CIA agent, Cross, as he faces his own life and death situations triggered from Bourne’s past.

Jeremy Renner was nice enough to take the time to sign autographs for fans at the premiere, I snagged mines, but unfortunately he wouldn’t take any pictures. *insert sad face* “The Bourne Legacy” is set to hit theaters August 10, 2012.
