As children we watched Walt Disney films and thought nothing much of it as being an entertaining story with fun characters and bright colors. Now as I look back on my favorite Disney movies I can see that there was much to learn from these adventurous, brave and sometimes crazy characters. As an adult here are the lessons I learned from Disney.
Aladdin- Anybody who knows me knows “Aladdin” is by far my favorite Disney movie. I watch it EVERY time it’s on TV and ’til this day know every lyric to all the songs. Aladdin is a story about being a good person even if in the worst conditions. Aladdin was a poor, homeless orphan but he still saw the good in things and was deep down a good person. “Aladdin” taught us to look beyond the exterior of people.
Pinocchio – All Pinocchio wanted was to be a real boy and from him we learned if you want something bad enough it came happen. He also taught us the importance of telling the truth. But nothing is more inspirational than the lyrics to “When You Wish Upon a Star”
Toy Story – “You Got a Friend in Me” is the ultimate friendship song from any movie. Buzz and Woody may have started off at wit’s end but “Toy Story” shows us that we are not that much different from each other when you take the time to get to know new people. This movie taught us the value of friendship indeed.
A Goofy Movie- Another great film with great songs! I absolutely LOVE “A Goofy Movie”. The main lesson from these films come from Powerline’s music. His songs “Stand Out” and “Eye to Eye” has great messages to it, check out the lyrics. Certain lyrics in “Stand Out” really has become a daily thing I tell myself for motivation.
What other Disney films have you learned from?
