The best time of the year approaching for lovers of all things horrifying, creepy, and down right, well spooky. We may still be adjusting to life in a pandemic, but that’s not going to stop the joy of Spooky Season for me. I love horror and that’s no secret if you’ve been following this blog. I immediately gravitate towards the horror or thriller genre before anything else, so when I saw Blumhouse Productions, a film company notorious for producing horror films, had teamed up with Amazon Prime, a streaming service I have, to deliver original horror films I was automatically on board.

Starting October 6 and continuing on October 13, get ready to “unsettle in” for “four unsettling films under one roof.” A trailer for Welcome to the Blumhouse teased what can be expected in the four original films coming to Amazon Prime starring many familiar faces. Allow me to break down each film for you.

“The Lie” (October 6, 2020)
Joey King, Mireille Enos, and Peter Sarsgaard star in “The Lie” is written and directed by Veena Sud. After confessing to killing her best friend, the parents of a teen daughter must do all they can to cover up the crime. Along the deceitful journey more lies are uncovered.

“Black Box” (October 6, 2020)
Losing your wife and memory in a car accident is traumatic enough but with Blumhouse things get taken up another notch. Directed and co-written by Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr. along with Stephen Herman; Mamoudou Athie, Phylicia Rashad, Amanda Christine, Tosin Morohunfola, Charmaine Bingwa, and Troy James star in “Black Box.” The main character goes into an experimental treatment  after his accident leaving everything he once knew in question.

“Nocturne” (October 13, 2020)
Starring Sydney Sweeney, Madison Iseman, Jacques Colimon, and Ivan Shaw, the Zu Quirke written and directed film goes inside the prestigious walls of an elite arts academy. A Faustian bargain, aka a deal with the devil, is made when a sister feels outshone by her twin. Things never end good when that happens.

“Evil Eye” (October 13, 2020)
This film is based off the award-winning, best-selling Audible Original production from Madhuri Shekar. Directed by Elan Dassani and Rajeev Dassani, “Evil Eye” follows a mother’s plight realizing her daughter’s new boyfriend may be the reincarnated spirit of a man who tried to kill her 30 years prior. Sarita Choudhury,  Sunita Mani,  Omar Maskati, and Bernard White star in the film.
