The path less traveled can often be the best journey to reaching your ultimate goal. For Emily Peachy the journey to becoming an actress took an interesting route. Acting is something Emily always loved since high school, but her parents wanted her to have a back up plan just in case things didn’t work out.

Peachy went to college and studied broadcast journalism and communications.”I always wanted to do something in front of the camera,” she told Glambergirlblog. After college still unsure where her acting career would lead, Emily decided to go to law school. It was then that fate dealt her a sweet hand. “On my first day of law school I got a part in a movie, “The Fault in Our Stars,” and I dropped out on my lunch break, moved to L.A., and that was it.”

Currently you can see Emily Peachy on the Spectrum Original series Paradise Lost as Liza Sampson. Bridget Regan, Nick Nolte, Barbara Hershey, and Josh Hartnett star in the mystery drama set in the south. “It follows this guy, Josh Hartnett, and he goes back to his hometown where all of these things start coming up from his past. He has to decide whether he wants to go down the path of his past or look towards his future. It’s a really cool story. It has a lot of twists and twists and turns,” Peachy said about the series.

When asked about her role as Liza, Peachy shared how her character and Hartnett’s intertwines. “She is part of Josh’s past. A lot of things come up in the show about her and their relationship, things that have happened between the two of them, and how they are affecting him in the present day. She’s [Liza] a very sweet girl. She’s a debutante and it was a really fun character to play. I really had a good time playing her.”

Paradise Lost was shot in between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana although the series takes place in Mississippi. Filming in the rural south made for some exciting and often scary night shoots with Emily trying to steer clear from alligators in the swamps, but overall her experience working on the show was pleasant. “The cast was amazing and everybody was so great to work with. I obviously liked working with Josh. Growing up he was a heartthrob. I think I had a poster of him in my room when I was a teenager, so it was definitely cool getting to to film with him.”

Due to the spread of Covid-19 the upcoming projects Emily had (a horror film called “Tar” and a Showtime series) have been put on hold, but the pandemic isn’t slowing down her creativity. “The first week I was very lost. I had no idea what to do cause I hate being at home just sitting at home. I love getting out and doing things and seeing people. It was definitely weird for the first week or so, but I think I’ve gotten used to this new way of life and I found other ways to keep myself busy. I love to draw and write and those are things that I normally don’t have the time to do.”

Emily offered up this advice for other actors who may be struggling during the stay at home order. “Try to channel your creativity in other ways. Obviously it’s hard to act, audition, or anything like that, but maybe learn a monologue or write a screenplay. Just any way to get those creative juices flowing that you ordinarily might not get the opportunity to do.”
