Ryan Gosling served as host for the season 43 premiere of Saturday Night Live over the weekend, September 30th, with musical guest Jay Z.

It was Gosling’s second time hosting the late night comedy series and this time he came to promote his upcoming movie with Harrison Ford, “Blade Runner 2049.” This time though Ryan couldn’t stop talking about the time he saved jazz as Sebastian for his role in “La La Land.”

When the film was released in 2016 Gosling got flack for his role because he was this white guy essentially hell-bent on “saving jazz.” To poke fun at the criticism, Gosling’s opening monologue was all about how he saved the music genre. Kenan Thompson and even his “La La Land” co-star Emma Stone joined him on stage to let Ryan know that he did not save jazz. It was pretty hilarious.

Watch Ryan Gosling talk about “Blade Runner 2049” and how he saved jazz in his opening monologue for Saturday Night Live season 43 in the clip below. Share your thoughts in the comments.
