I’m not going to lie, this post took me the longest to have the patience to write because I’m honestly at a loss of words. When the “Black Panther” teaser dropped last week, one of the upcoming films to be released from the Marvel universe, I watched it simply because it was a trending topic on Twitter and everyone was losing their shit about it. Now I admit my knowledge of the Marvel universe isn’t that in-depth because I didn’t even know there was such character named the Black Panther.
From my research, the film adaptation, that will drop early next year, follows the premise of the comics. On IMDb the plot of the film reads, “T’Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must defend his land from being torn apart by enemies from outside and inside the country.” The minute I watched the trailer I was not impressed and didn’t finish my first viewing.
Revisiting again I got to see that the all-star cast is however a roster of melanin greatness with Chadwick Boseman as the main character T’Challa aka Black Panther. Joining Boseman in the movie is: Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, John Kani, and more! Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman also appear in the film.
I’m still not excited or anticipating this film, but who knows, maybe my feelings will change throughout the year. “Black Panther” comes to theaters February 16, 2018.
Watch the “Black Panther” teaser in the clip below. Share your thoughts in the comments and if you’re so inclined please let me know what the big hype is over this film. I’m dying to know.
