Joshua Luke Smith‘s newest single “Heart Of Man” comes right on time during a state in our country where we need to become more united in the face of hate and despair.

If you’re not familiar with Joshua Luke Smith allow GGB to give you a heads up on an artist you have to place on your ‘must watch’ list for 2017. The 25-year-old rapper, described as a “wordsmith,” is using his philosophy degree paired with his love for words to create music with a message and inspire people to break free from their comfort zones.

Back in September, Smith was featured on the site for his single “Becoming Human” for World Suicide Prevention Day, now a few months later, and the rapper is back with a new single and stronger message in “Heart Of Man,” reflecting back on 2016.

“This last year has been mad, unsettling and distressing at times. We feel divided, isolated and at war with our neighbor. This song is both a lament and moment of reflection,” he said about his new track, adding, “A call to lay down the stones, gripped in our palms, readied to throw at the first person who speaks against us, our tribe or belief. We shape the world around us by shaping the world inside of us, everything flows from the heart. My hope is this song helps to slow us down, to help us step into this year fully here, present, with hearts full and ready to love.”

Pairing up with Dominic Doring once more, the visual for “Heart Of Man” features Smith spitting his verse’s in front a projector highlighting imagery of brutality and harsh times.

The release of “Heart Of Man” comes right before Joshua Luke Smith plans to kick off his first UK tour. The Becoming Human Tour begins January 21 through January 27 to help promote Smith’s upcoming record Your Beauty Deluxe Edition, out the same day the tour starts.
