Ellen DeGeneres had a brief discussion about love and acceptance of others with guest Pharrell Williams on today’s episode of Ellen following comments Gospel singer Kim Burrell made about homosexuality.

Burrell was scheduled to perform a song with Williams during his stop by Ellen, but following the crude comments she made, Ellen opted for her not to perform on her show. So what exactly was said on Burrell’s part? During a sermon she shouted about homosexuals being “perverted” and that they are “sinning.” Those comments didn’t sit well with DeGeneres.

While Williams, who collaborated with Burrell on “I See A Victory” from the “Hidden Figures” soundtrack, was being interview on Ellen she asked him to share his thoughts on the matter. “Well there’s no space for, there’s no room for any kind of prejudice in 2017,” Pharrell started. Later he added that we need to be more kind to one another and have more empathy.
