Justin Bieber is done taking fan photos and explained exactly why on social media.

Back in March Justin Bieber shared on Instagram that he would not be doing any more meet and greets during his Purpose world tour. In a lengthy caption on the social media platform, Bieber explained that while the experience may be enjoyable for fans, he left feeling “so drained and unhappy” so he decided to cancel all meet ups moving forward. Now, JB is done taking fan photos all together.

Again on Instagram, he used the platform to make the announcement to his 67.6 million fans. He uploaded a photo of a note that read, “If you happen to see me out somewhere know that I’m not gonna take a picture I’m done taking pictures,” he stated.

The note continued, “It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human, I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity. I realize people will be disappointed but I don’t owe anybody a picture. and people who say “but I brought ur album” know that you got my album and you got what you paid for AN ALBUM! It doesn’t say in fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo. Justin Bieber.”

Later, the 22-year-old “Sorry” singer responded to some of the comments about his choice to not take pictures basically saying her didn’t want to be “a slave to the world and their demands of what they think” he needs to do.

Now I feel two ways about this. I can understand how JB feels about the pressures of fame. He’s been in the industry for quite a while and he’s still young. The constant pull of what he should be doing can take a toll on a person. On the flip, while fans don’t automatically deserve a photo for supporting you it doesn’t hurt to stop for 2 seconds to take one. No you don’t have to do it all the time, but to spend a little time with the people who put you on this mainstream platform and put millions of dollars in your bank account could get a little bit of your attention, i.e. a photo and memory for them to cherish forever.

There are celebs like Beyoncé that you don’t see show up in a lot of fan photos and she certainly doesn’t do meet and greets, but she never said, at least I don’t think, that she flat-out doesn’t do fan photos. I think making that announcement seems so pretentious.

You tell me what you think! Do you understand Justin Bieber’s point of view about a no fan photo policy? Share you thoughts with me in the comments.
