After a night of premature reports that Angela Raiola aka Big Ang from VH1’s Mob Wives has passed away from cancer, the news is now official that the reality star has succumbed to her disease at age 55.

On Big Ang’s official social media pages, Vinnie Medugno, a close family friend and spokesperson for the family regretfully informed every one of her passing. “It is with sad regret that we inform you that at 3:01AM Angela Raiola peacefully ended her battle with cancer, and was called home. She was surrounded by nothing but love from her immediate family, and closest friends,” he wrote online.

The statement continued, “YOU, (Her fans) were some of the most special people in her world, and she loved you immensely. Thank you for your love, prayers, and unconditional support of Angela right to the very end. She truly went out richer than any monetary value could ever amount to. The family asks for privacy, and peace during this most difficult time. In typical Big Ang fashion, we know she would say “Love you my babies!” This page will remain open as a celebration of who she was and will always be. It has been my esteemed privilege, and honor to represent her in the highest regard via social media. -Vinnie Medugno (@vinniemedugno).”

Big Ang’s battle with cancer came to light of the public back in April 2015. A tumor in her throat was removed once discovered by doctors, but sadly the cancer returned that December and had spread to her brain and lungs. Recently Big Ang appeared on Dr Oz and discussed her condition saying she didn’t believe she had that much longer left. So sad.

RIP Angela Raiola. Condolences to her love ones during this time.
