Happy Freaky Friday Glamberous Ones! I thought for this 13 Days of Glamberween post I’d share a review on a horror movie that will sure bring out the freak and give you the ultimate creeps, Carter Smith’s “The Ruins.”

What’s It About
The Ruins,” 2008, is a film directed by Carter Smith and written by Scott B. Smith starring Jonathan Tucker, Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, and Shawn Ashmore. Tucker and Malone are a couple, Jeff and Amy, and Ramsey and Ashmore are a couple, Stacy and Eric, who are on a couple’s vacation in Mexico. On the last day of the vacation they decide to tag along with a fellow tourist Mathias (Joe Anderson) to a remote Mayan Ruin site to explore. Horrible idea. With no cell reception and no quick way to escape, the five travelers are trapped with a deadly threat closer than they think.

Why You Should Watch It
The idea of a good horror movie for me has several elements. 1. It has to stick with me, 2. It has to have a surprising element/good twist, and 3. I have to get some jumps. “The Ruins” has all of those for me. It starts off a little slow, so bare with it, but when the plot starts going it goes and it’s creepy. There’s one main set once the story gets going and it could get a tad boring, but you feel compelled to know what’s going on what these damn ruins? And once you figure out what’s happening you’ll have to see how the story ends.

Why It Made My List
I talked to y’all before about how when you watch a movie enough that it becomes a comedy and this is definitely one of those films. I’m not one to get the creeps, but if there was ever a film to do it to me it’s this. I don’t want to give too much away but those damn vines from the ruins will haunt your dreams.

“The Ruins” is available on Amazon video for $2.99 and on demand if you have it. Watch the trailer below and share your thoughts in the comments.
