The Task Force X, aka the Suicide Squad, first cast photo in costume is here and it’s everything you dreamed it would be DC comics fans! But before we get into the awesome cast photo let’s backtrack a bit.
In early Apri, production for “Suicide Squad” started off with a bang when Director David Ayer tweeted a photo of most of the cast during a table reading. He captioned that photo “Cast read through today! #SuicideSquad.” The goodies kept coming for fans when Ayer shook up the internet in mid April and tweeted the first look of Jared Leto as The Joker. Depicted with a mouth with silver teeth, green hair, and a body covered with tattoos, the spin on the infamous comic book character received very positive feedback.
The premise for Warner Bros. “Suicide Squad” is “A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency.” It’s also being described as “’The Dirty Dozen’ with super-villains” by the director of the film.
On Sunday, Ayer shared the first cast photo on Twitter of the Suicide Squad in costume. We have: Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez). Now I usually like my comic movies of the X-Men type, but I can’t lie, this looks like one bad ass cast, and with Jay Hernandez?! I’m in!
Later, a photo of Will Smith as Deadshot in full costume, including mask and weapon, was uploaded to social media. Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney, not yet pictured in costume, are also slated to appear in “Suicide Squad,” set for an August 5, 2016 release date.
