It’s December so the holiday spirit is in full swing. That also means we simply can’t celebrate a holiday in pop culture without the unveiling of The Kardashian family annual Christmas card.
The Kardashians have been sending out family Christmas cards for years but ever since the family became reality stars their Christmas card has been a very anticipated event; or maybe that’s just me.
This year the family unveiled their card during their Keeping Up With The Kardashians Christmas special. On the episode the family showed videos from Christmas past along with exchanging gifts. During the last half hour of the special all the drama unfolded as the family prepared to shoot their Christmas card.
The Kardashians shot with renowned photographer David LaChappelle and experienced a card like no other. Originally LaChappelle had the vision of putting only the women in the family Christmas card this year set in a post apocalyptic pop culture world filled with destroyed tabloids and iconic moments in the family lives. Bruce Jenner was not having that and neither was Kourtney Kardashian. They didn’t have a problem with the concept but since it is a Christmas card they wanted all of the family in the photo, i.e Bruce and Kourtney’s children; I can totally agree with that.
Bruce and Kourtney prevailed; Bruce was in the photo shoot as well as Kourtney’s kids, Mason and Penelope. Scott Disick, Rob Kardashian, Lamar Odom and Kanye West opted out of the card this year because West was on tour, Odom and Khloe Kardashian are having issues, Rob doesn’t feel confident about himself and Scott simply doesn’t care about being excluded.
Now back to this card. Although it was very high fashion, visually stunning and the family looks drop dead gorgeous; I don’t get the Christmas vibe and the back drop is so busy you can barely make anybody out. This could have just been a photo shoot that they wanted to do just because they wanted to work with LaChappelle, but for Christmas, I don’t like it and I love me some Kardashians.
