I’ve noticed that all my 13 Days of Glamberween horror films so far have been old school joints so far so this one will be an updated scary movie.

I find that many horror films of today are not scary but have more of a focus on guts, gore and overall shock value. These aren’t the films I like; I prefer a nice psychologically thriller that will make you think or one that will seriously terrify me. That’s exactly what the 2012 movie “Would You Rather” did to me.

What’s It About
“Would You Rather” is about a young girl named Iris (Brittany Snow) who is desperate to help her sick younger brother. They both are broke so Iris agrees to go to dinner hosted by Shepard Lambrick (Jeffrey Combs) with the promise that if she wins a game she will be awarded a large sum of money. Upon arriving there are many other guests but none of them realize they are about to play a deadly game of would you rather and there can only be one winner.

Why It Made My List
After seeing the trailer for “Would You Rather” I immediately put the film on my radar for one I wanted to see. What I was not anticipating was how it would affect me. I’m not sure if it was the Red Bull or the film in itself but I was literally shaking watching it. The anticipation was killing me, so much so that I couldn’t even wait to see how the film played out, I went on IMDb to read about the ending. I think the thing that’s so sick about this film is that they are really crazy individuals in this world that get off inflicting pain or watching others inflict pain. This type of horror movie has been done before; having to choose between horrible options, but the way this one was done was strategically suspenseful that you really didn’t know how it would end, although I did figure out what was going to happen at the very end.

Why You Should Watch It
If you’re in the mood for a thrilling horror movie then this is just the film you need to see to put you in the Halloween spirit. It has the guts, blood and gore if that’s the type of scary movie you like, it has the thriller/suspense aspect and also a good message about being selfless vs. selfish. I 100% recommend you see it.
