Hello Glamberous Ones and Welcome to GGBTV Presents: Philly’s Phinest!

We’re in the last week of GGBTV Presents:Philly’s Phinest. All month-long I brought you exclusive sit downs with some of Philadelphia’s greatest talents in media, fashion, music and more! And at the end of the month I will be sharing my journey with Glambergirlblog.com

You can call him Bones, BonesHR, Bones Jones but what you can’t call him is a slacker. The West Philadelphia born rapper started his own record label at the age of 17 (Hustler Records) and indeed has been hustling ever since to get his name out there in this city and beyond.

I sat down with Bones and he opened up about starting his label saying, “Well at that time I was in high school and we were just kind of playing around with it. It really wasn’t nothing serious to where it is now..we weren’t really investing. We just called it a label because that’s what we seen other people doing in the industry but now it’s actually LLC’ed and it’s a real company for the past two years.”

When I asked Bones to describe his sound he said, “My sound, I try to keep my sound current, but also within my current sound I try to keep like a lot of flashy stuff, a lot of fly stuff that people can relate to.” He continued, ” A lot of people call me a flashy rapper, a swag rapper or whatever you want to call it…but with my flash I want to talk to people and not down on people.”

So what’s Bones up to these days? He’s been busy promoting his Fashion and Profits 2 mix tape that drops September 10 and has been doing something really special for this mixtape. “Leading up to Fashion and Profits 2 what I wanted to do was kind of include a lot of the people that I like in the city that are in the whole fashion wave. From now until September you going to see like a lot of blogs, a lot of pictures, a lot of things that has to do with fashion and profits and I’m pulling all my resources,” Bones said. Continuing, “Whether it be somebody I know that has a clothing line, somebody like Koty (another one of our Philly’s Phinest)  that has his glasses line and we going to be doing a lot of different photo shoots and a lot of things leading up to it for the promo.”

Bones is one of Philly’s Phinest because he’s a positive male rapper that turned his love for music into a successful career by first starting his own label and becoming one of Philly’s greatest up and coming talents.
