Girls are thought to be very emotional and catty creatures, so much so that friendships between girlfriends can develop into a love/hate relationship; a coined term known as Frenemies.

In Hollywood, frenemies have made some of the most interesting and greatest story lines so it gave me an idea; to list a few of my fav fictional frenemies over the past years that have fought their way into our hearts with every argument, low blow, hair pull and scandal. So without further adieu, here are Glambergirlblog’s Five Favorite Fictional Frenemies.

Girls – Marnie and Hannah All hell broke loose for Marnie (Allison Williams) and Hannah (Lena Dunham) is season 2 of HBO’s Girls. The rift between the ex-roomates grew even wider when Hannah found out Marnie slept with Elijah, Hannah’s ex now gay roommate. Throughout season 2 their love/hate was one of the best parts.

Gossip Girl – Serena and Blair You can’t talk about Gossip Girl without mentioning the most confusing frenemy saga ever. Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) were constantly at each other’s throats throughout season 1 over boyfriends, parent’s approval, jealousy, sex scandals and even being queen at school but yet they couldn’t live without one another.

“Bride Wars” – Liv and Emma What started out as two best friends planning their dream weddings turned into a battle for the best ceremony when Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) booked their wedding on the same day. We all know how crazy weddings can be so imagine the drama that unfolded.

Girlfriends – Joan and Toni Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Toni (Jill Marie Jones) from Girlfriends had years of pent of anger that exploded throughout the seasons of the show. From Joan being jealous of Toni getting married, to Toni seducing Joan’s sex addict boyfriend and blaming Joan for all her problems; these ladies had some crazy but also heart warming moments throughout the seasons of the show.

“Mean Girls” – Gretchen, Regina, Cady and Karen “The Plastics,” Gretchen (Lacey Chabert), Regina (Rachel McAdams) and Karen (Amanda Seyfried) are the reason why the terms frenemies and “mean girls” have gone viral. When new girl from Africa Cady (Lindsay Lohan) moved into town, an infiltration gone wrong made for a classic movie in pop culture and crowned our favorite frenemies of all time.
