Say it isn’t so! It pains me to say that after 8 years on Saturday Night Live, Bill Hader is leaving the show at the end of this season. He joined the show in 2005 when he originally appeared as a featured guest and became a regular cast member the following season.

While the departure is shocking to fans, Hader has been contemplating it for some time.  Bill confesses, “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.'” He also credits the leave of Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig as a part of it, as well as wanting to move his family to Los Angeles. The sketch comedy show will also lose another star player in 2014, when Seth Meyers will replace Jimmy Fallon on “Late Night”.

Hader was known for his wacky celebrity impressions and original characters he cultivated himself, like Stefon and Vinny Vedecci. They will definitely be a missed presence on the show. However, he’s confident that the newer generation (Taran Killam, Kate McKinnon, etc) will keep the show in “good hands.” But who will ever keep us informed of New York’s Hottest Club again?!
