The season two premiere of the Golden Globe winning television HBO series Girls about mid twenty-year old  girls living in Brooklyn just trying to figure their lives out picked off kind of how the first season started with the lead character Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham) cuddling in bed with her roommate. This time instead of Hannah playing footies with her estranged BFF Marnie (Allison Williams) she’s snuggled up to the boner of her ex boyfriend turned gay roommate Elijah (Andrew Rannells).

Within the first two minutes of the season premiere that aired on Sunday, January 13, Hannah engaged in sex with her new lover Sandy (Donald Glover) in turn going to nurse her ex Adam (Adam Driver) back to health whose leg is broken from the car he got hit by in the season one finale. Hannah makes it clear to both Sandy and Adam that she is in the stage of her life where she wants to be free from all titled relationships but all shit hits the fan when Adam dropped the “L” bomb. Yeah, he inadvertently admitted that he loved Hannah.

In Marnie news, the uptight princess is now single, jobless and living on the couch of a friend, Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), the newly “deflowered but not devalued” quirky girl. At Elijah and Hannah’s housewarming party Shosh expresses her disappointment to Ray (Alex Karpovsky) for basically loving and leaving her. Ray expresses his loathe for her immature behavior i.e sending him text messages full of emojis – something I would totally do. After a few words the two hook up anyway. Marnie has a brief moment with her ex Charlie (Christopher Abbott) and his new girl Audrey. You can clearly see Charlie hasn’t changed and Audrey is just as bothered with him as Marnie was.

The weirdest thing about this episode was the semi sex that took place between Elijah and Marnie after all the housewarming party guests dispersed. The two start having a conversation about bisexuality and end up making out and attempting to have sex. The two agree they should stop pretending to be something they’re not.

Ending the first episode of the season we see Jessa (Jemima Kinke) returning home from a honeymoon in Mexico with her husband and equally a stranger Thomas-John (Chris O’Dowd). The two seem happy and in love despite the very short time they’ve known each other. Marnie winds up spending the night cuddling with Charlie and Hannah strips down and hops in bed with Sandy. The girls are back to their crazy, unpredictable ways.
