The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday, January 13 at 8/7 c on NBC. Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press AssociationHFPA, the night celebrated all the greatest television shows, films, and all the people who go into making them so great over the past year.

Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the ladies entrusted with hosting the festivities this year and they did not disappoint. I feel like these two should ALWAYS hosts things together because all those years at Saturday Night Live served the girls well! Their opening monologue was natural and flowed nicely with zingers about the nominees and each other. Fey and Poehler’s former SNL cast mates Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell channeled their inner Taylor Swift, who was also in attendance, while presenting the award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy or Musical.

But what’s a show without awards. Christoph Waltz won the first award of the night for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in “Django Unchained.” Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence both won their first Golden Globe awards for their leading roles. Chastain won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in “Zero Dark Thirty” and Lawrence won for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for “Silver Linings Playbook.”

The “Girls” ran the world beating Modern Family in Best TV Series – Comedy or Musical and creator/executive producer/writer Lena Dunham won Best Actress – TV Comedy or Musical for her lead role in HBO’s Girls. The major awards of the night went to “Agro” and “Les Miserables.” “Agro” won for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director. “Les Miserables” actor Hugh Jackson won for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and actress Anne Hathaway won for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.

Jodie Foster was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award which was given to the actress for her extensive decades in the business. Upon accepting her award presented by Robert Downey Jr., Foster gave a very heart-felt speech about her sexuality and the lack of privacy in the business which led people to speculate she was personally referring to her dear friends Kristen Stewart and Mel Gibson.

The 2013 Golden Globes was definitely one for the books! Congrats to all the amazing winners at the Globes. To see a full list of the winners click here. What were your highlights of the night?
