WHERE DO I START WITH “THE HUNGER GAMES”?! I mean I’m still a little mind blown by what I saw; it’s just so much to digest. I did not read the books but I read about the plot so I knew what to expect but seeing it visually was AMAZING to say the least. And yes this is a spoiler alert so if you haven’t seen the movie by now shame on you! But “The Hunger Games” is basically about a future where the Capital randomly selects a boy and girl from the 12 districts to participate in a battle to the death on live television.

Did I cry?

Of course I did! Did I want to yell at the screen, “Katniss get your sh*t together and get your head in the game!” I know the circumstances are crucial and I know I would have been one of the first to go but Katniss was screwing up along the way in my opinion. Yes she was riding solo for the most part but I felt Katniss was in a daze and really didn’t have in her head that she could be killed out there. It wasn’t until Rue, Jesus Rue, was killed off. That’s when the tears really hit me! I couldn’t hold them back anymore. Especially when, I’m assuming, Rue’s dad went crazy and the entire District 11 went crazy along with him, I was in the theater like,

Another scene that had me in tears was in the reaping. Now we all seen the “I volunteer” part in the trailers but in the actual context and the build up to this scene was so emotional. The movie had so much tension I felt like I was getting ready for the annual games.

Watching the entire film I couldn’t help but think of an interview I saw with Jennifer Lawrence. One of her castmates asked her what she hoped people got from the film and in a synopsis of her answer she wanted people to get a reality-tv aspect from the movie and how our society is numbed to shock value and I agree with her 100%. I so got that from this film. Here you have a society where people wait for this yearly, murder feast for pure joy. People celebrate your pain and failures and ignore your accomplishments. For instance in the film when Katniss has to display her talents in front of some of the Hunger Games higher-ups she missed the target with an arrow and was scolded but when she made the target no one was even paying attention.

The entire film I was thinking, what is wrong with these people? I was utterly shocked!

But the film in general was GREAT! Three fingers up for the tributes! Talk to me people; were you feeling “The Hunger Games”? Share your thoughts in the comments.
